The Taj Mahal administration received a notice of property and water tax of Rs 1.9 crore from Agra Municipality, what is the matter?
The
Agra Nagar Nigam (Agra Municipal Corporation) notice states that these bills
are for the financial years 2021-22 and 2022-23. However, Municipal
Commissioner Nikhil T Funde said that he was not aware of the Taj Mahal's
tax-related proceedings.

wonder of the architectural world.
The
Agraji municipality has asked the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to pay
Rs 1.47 lakh as house tax on the Taj Mahal as well as Rs 1.94 crore as water
tax, a first for the Taj Mahal. . The ASI has been given 15 days to pay the
dues, failing which the property will be earmarked.
The
Agra Nagar Nigam (Agra Municipal Corporation) notice states that these bills
are for the financial years 2021-22 and 2022-23. However, Municipal
Commissioner Nikhil T Funde said that he was not aware of the Taj Mahal's
tax-related proceedings. Funde said that fresh notices are being issued based
on the state-wide Geographical Information System (GIS) survey conducted for
tax calculation.
He
said that notices have been issued to all premises including government
buildings and religious places based on the dues owed to them. The exemption is
provided after due process of law. In case of the notice being issued to ASI,
necessary action will be taken based on the reply received from them.
